Philosophy
It is our philosophy that children learn best through play. A young child's play allows them to explore, identify, negotiate, take risks, and create meaning. Physically active play allows children to test and develop all types of motor skills. It has significant health and wellbeing benefits. Preschool offers a space for physical play to happen in a social setting, which increases the development of social competence. Children can build relationships, learn to resolve conflicts, and begin to see others point of view. Through play children obtain increased feelings of success and optimism as they find independence and make their own choices.
The dispositions for learning, such as curiosity, openness, resilience, optimism, creativity, and concentration are developed in play. Quality play experiences in the early years make children more likely to have well developed memory skills, language development, and ability to regulate their behavior, leading to enhanced academic learning.
